Processing and its role in a sustainable red meat industry

Professor Dimitrios Georgakopoulos joined Swinburne University of Technology in July 2016 to start a new Key Laboratory for the Internet of Things (IoT). Before that he served as a Research Director (2008-2014) at CSIRO’s ICT Centre and Executive Director of the Information Engineering Laboratory, which was the largest Computer Science research program in CSIRO and Australia. 

Dimitrios is a research and innovation leader in the areas of the internet of Things (IoT), process management, and data management. He has also authored and co-authored 150 book, journal, and conference publications and received 9,600+ citations.

He has won several outstanding paper awards and service awards from IEEE Computer Society, and was the recipient of GTE’s (Verizon’s) Excellence Award. In Australia, he was a principal investigator in four ACT iAwards and a CSIRO Plant Industry divisional innovation award. Dimitrios has successfully led three research laboratories in the US, EU and Australia and conducted more than thirty major research projects in three continents. He has also advised the Australian government in areas such as the R&D tax and investment, NBN, and trade in the technology space.
